PATRICIA S. GREEN
Patricia S. Green
has been chosen as Harwinton's 28th recipient of the
Arthur B. Poole Memorial Award.
Green, of Harwinton Heights Road, has been a resident
of Harwinton for the past 39 years. She is married to
Williard B. Green, Jr. and has two children. She graduated
from Farmington High School and the University of Connecticut
and receiving her teacher training from Central Connecticut
State University. She went on to teach first grade at
Cherry Brook School in Canton. In later years she was
Librarian and Curator at the Morris Public Library and
Aline B. Morris Museum.
Among her many
civic activities, Green has served on the Harwinton
Wetlands and Watercourses Commission, Board of Directors
of the Nutmeg Ballet Company, Council member of the
Christ Episcopal Church of Harwinton, past member and
treasurer of the Arthur B. Poole Award Committee and
member of Trinity Episcopal Church of Torrington.
Green has been
a member of the Harwinton Homemakers Club, Hearthside
Quilters, No-Time for Quilting Group, Prayer Shawl Knitters
and Goshen Garden Club. A past President of the Harwinton's
Womans Club, she has been an active member for over
25 years, organizing the creation and completion of
the Woman's Club annual raffle quilt, the monies of
which go directly to the community of Harwinton. Her
efforts also helped make the Harwinton Fire Department
banner and flag.
