OUTSTANDING CITIZEN
2007 Honoree
JOHN
MAZZOCHI
John Mazzochi
has been selected as the 2007 recipient of the annual
Harwinton Outstanding Citizen Award, which will be presented
for the 33rd time at a banquet on Friday, April 27,
at the Torrington Elks Club.
Mr. Mazzochi is a longtime resident
of Harwinton and has donated many years of his time
to town organizations. A communicant of Immaculate Heart
of Mary Church, his work as a member of the Curechief
Foundation (which sews and distributes kerchiefs for
cancer patients) and the Social Concerns Committee,
were among the reasons for his being awarded the Catholic
Service Award by the Archbishop of Hartford.
He is a past director of the Harwinton Agricultural
Society and is a vital part of the success of the Harwinton
Fair weekend, working countless hours year round to
help assure every detail is set for the annual event.
John is currently a member of the Harwinton Volunteer
Fire Department and serves as a member of the Fire Police.
A longtime supporter of the Harwinton Youth Sports Association,
John gives his heart and his time to serve the organization
and can often be found at sporting events as an enthusiastic
supporter.
He is also an official “uncle”
to the Little League Baseball Organization, Eastern
Region, spending countless hours assisting Little League
players at the A. Bartlett Giamatti Little League Field
in Bristol.
I was deeply gratified to hear
that I was the recipient of the Outstanding Citizen
Award.
To be in such great company of
those who have been selected before me is a great honor.”
